Copper Canyon Academy and Desert Pointe Academy offer a variety of after school activities for students, as follows:

Copper Canyon Athletics

As a member of the Canyon Athletic Association, CCA fields junior varsity athletic teams in flag football, girls’ volleyball, boys’ and girls’ basketball, and co-ed soccer. These teams compete with other charter schools providing CCA students the opportunity to meet new people, learn sportsmanship, and share in positive social experiences.

Science Olympiad - sponsored by Mr. Duane Sommers, 5th-8th grade Science teacher

Copper Canyon Academy has an academic team in the Arizona Division B Science Olympiad. The team is open to students in grades 5-9. Science Olympiad is a national program that has 23 competitive events in science and technology. Events range from testing events such as anatomy and disease detectives to constructions such as towers and scrambler. We compete in invitationals around the state, the North/Central regional and the State Tournament held at Central Arizona College.

Copper Canyon Academy has an after school academic program called STEM. STEM stands for Science-Technology-Engineering-Mathematics. We meet one to two times a month and work on activities and projects in the different areas. The club is open to students in grades 3-8 and is very popular.
